PROJECT EXAMPLE:

SETTING UP A HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

Initial situation:

We received an inquiry from an owner-managed industrial company with approximately 150 employees. The company had grown successfully in recent years, and its workforce had multiplied. This had not only increased the administrative workload but also the number of inquiries from employees and managers regarding a wide range of HR topics. Until then, the company did not have its own HR department.

Task/Objective:

  • Handling day-to-day business (personnel administration, recruiting, contact person for specialists and managers on all personnel matters)
  • Development of a strategic approach to employee retention and recruitment (employer branding)
  • Introducing processes and organizational structures (organizational development)
  • Appointment of a Human Resources Officer (m/f/d) (perspective 12 months)

Result/Project Completion:

  1. The human resources department was implemented as an internal service provider and therefore quickly gained widespread acceptance among employees, managers and company management.
  2. Short-term measures for employee retention and recruitment were implemented directly (e.g., optimized job postings, revised career website, streamlining of the recruiting process, introduction of an onboarding program, introduction and support of probationary period interviews and ad hoc employee reviews).
  3. Organizational charts with corresponding job descriptions were created and communicated throughout the company. This clearly defined responsibilities and accountabilities and reduced the potential for conflict.
  4. A project plan with strategic approaches/tasks for medium- and long-term HR goals was created, thus defining the future direction of HR work.
  5. After 12 months, a human resources officer (m/f/d) was hired and trained.
