PROJECT EXAMPLE

WORKSHOP

"Conducting job interviews professionally and successfully"

Initial situation:

We received an inquiry from a medium-sized company with approximately 220 employees for a workshop on "Conducting Professional and Successful Job Interviews." Within the company, HR managers and staff conducted job interviews with potential candidates. Depending on their level of training and experience, the interviews varied in professionalism.

This led to the following problem:

  • There was significant potential for improvement in the company's professionalism and public image.
  • It was not possible to systematically compare the candidates after the interviews, as all the interviews went differently.

Task/Objective:

  • All those responsible for the conversation are brought up to the same level of knowledge (questioning techniques, interpretation of answers).
  • Implementation of an interview guide for a uniform, structured conversation process

Learning objectives:

  • Conducting structured interviews (professionalism and better comparability)
  • Legal requirements and limits (data protection, permissible and impermissible questions)
  • Questioning techniques for assessing professional and personal suitability
  • Professional appearance and body language

Workshop concept:

Prior to the workshops, an interview guide was created in close collaboration with the company's HR department.

A workshop concept tailored to the company's specific needs was developed, with the following parameters:

  • Maximum number of participants per workshop: 8 employees
  • Accompanied by two trainers from the HR Crew
  • A mix of methods including frontal lectures and self-developed content.
  • Workshop series with 5 sessions over a period of 3 months

Result/Project Completion:

  1. All those responsible for the discussions were brought up to the same level of knowledge.
  2. All interviewers apply the interview guide and conduct the interviews according to the same pattern.
  3. Those responsible for conducting the interviews not only gained more confidence in their interview skills, but the quality of the selection interviews was also significantly improved through knowledge of targeted questioning techniques.
  4. A significant time saving was achieved in the discussions held.
  5. The company's external image has been significantly improved, and with it the candidate experience (see HR glossary).
  6. The resulting comparability of the interviews greatly facilitated the selection of the most suitable candidates.
